Rainn Wilson Uplifts Seattle Children’s Patients with Virtual Visit

Seattle Children’s patients were surprised by a special visit by actor Rainn Wilson, known by many as Dwight from comedy series, “The Office.”

Patients, families and staff joined in on the fun with viewing parties held both in their hospital rooms and in-person at the main campus.

Seattle Children’s Child Life team members emceed the event, and invited Rainn to participate in a BeanBoozle Fiery Five Jelly Belly challenge.

During the game, Rainn, who was born and raised in Seattle, made patients laugh by answering various “would you rather” questions, “who would win” questions, “The Office” trivia, and more submitted by Seattle Children’s patients, families and their healthcare teams, while eating mild to blazing-hot jelly bean flavors.

Giggles erupted as Rainn attempted to respond to the questions while battling the intense heat.

“It was so great seeing the room and screen filled with smiles,” said Ursala Schwenn, a Child Life Enrichment Coordinator at Seattle Children’s. “We are so thankful for Rainn taking the time to connect, and can’t wait to do it again!”

Seattle Children’s is grateful to the generosity of Rainn Wilson and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for bringing smiles to our patients and uplifting their spirits during their stay in the hospital.
