Seahawks Mascot Visits Seattle Children’s Autism Center, Alyssa Burnett Adult Life Center for Autism Acceptance Month

In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month, Seattle Children’s Autism Center and Seattle Children’s Alyssa Burnett Adult Life Center students and families were surprised by a special visit from the Seattle Seahawks mascot, Blitz.

The VIP visitors brought special sensory kits, filled with Seahawks swag, lanyards, hearing protection and more! One student family shared, “Blitz made everybody feel so happy. His presence provided comfort and acceptance.”

Hear More from Our Students and Families

Below you’ll find direct quotes from our students and families about their experience with the special visit.

“He acted like one of the kids! It was amazing to see how well he understood and connected with kids. He fostered a sense of connection and understanding. Blitz made everybody feel happy, he was able to spread joy and laughter.”

“We saw him there pretending to work. My daughter likes mascots of any kind, so it was a nice surprise to end our visit. He also had some funny interactions with my dad about the Cowboys vs the Seahawks since my dad is a Cowboys fan!”

“My son LOVED Blitz! He was so surprised when Blitz was waiting to say hello to him! Blitz hugged him and then came over to engage and play on his iPad with him! My son still talks about how “the big blue bird, Blitz” is now his friend! Thank you so much for bringing so much joy to our family that day! We won’t ever forget the kindness shown by the Seahawks team and Seattle Children’s that day.”

“I want to share how impressed I was with Blitz and everyone involved. They made sure that, even though it was an exciting time, it wasn’t overwhelming to the kids who have special sensory needs. They were so good at making it a special yet calming experience!”

“I’m thankful that the Seahawks and Seattle Children’s have such a great relationship that brings so much happiness to the children in our communities during their most challenging days.”
